Adventures

You are the hero. The language is the plot

A story written for your level, in the language you are learning, where every decision is yours. Missions need equipment. Equipment costs coins. Coins come from one place only: studying.

Coins

Study to earn, play to spend

You cannot buy coins. The only way into the shop is through a class, a piece of writing, a review game, a word you mastered or a streak you kept going. The game gives your coins a purpose, and the coins give your study a reason to happen today instead of on Sunday.

How an adventure works

Choose it, play it, keep it

An adventure is a story you make and then own. It takes as many classes as it takes, and it waits for you between them.

1

Choose your story

Pick one of the stories written for your language and your level, or describe your own idea and let it be written for you. A detective in Paris, a chef in Bologna, a biologist in the Amazon — or the one thing only you would think of.

Choosing an adventure: surprise me, or bring your own idea
2

Play it in the language

Each scene puts you in a situation and hands you a few options, all in the language you are learning. Some are riskier than others. Some need equipment you bought with coins. The story bends around what you choose, so it is never the same story twice.

3

Keep the book

When the story ends, it is yours: your own digital book, with images drawn for your scenes and an audiobook you can listen to again. It stays in your library, in the language you fought your way through it in.

It is also some of the best reading practice you will get, because you already care what happens next: read a chapter, listen to the same chapter as an audiobook, then tell your teacher about it in your next class.

The backpack

You carry your progress on your back

Everything you finish goes into the backpack, and the backpack follows you across every language you study. Missions, souvenirs and achievements all count toward your rank. Start a new language and you do not start again from nothing.

The souvenir chest

Proof you were there

Every adventure leaves something behind. The souvenir chest is where those things live: the common ones you will find again, and the rare ones that were only available while a mission was open.

A guided tour disguised as a checklist

Before the adventure opens, you get your first missions. Finish a class. Submit a piece of writing and read the correction. Play a review game. Change your teacher's mood. Turn the subtitles on, then off. Each one hands you an item for your backpack, and the last one opens the door to the story.
